He was the highest of all priests in my world. Though I have found that 'priest' means something different to us than it does to those of other worlds.

Does it? I suppose that makes some sense... Things differ so much between our worlds, and other worlds. There must be words that have evolved to mean different things as well.

Perhaps there are. It is just... My culture does not believe in a higher power beyond magic itself. And we commune with it daily. What I've heard of religions in the Gray world... it makes so little sense.

Mm... I believe I remember you mentioning this once before. Given how many religions that can be found in my world compared to that, I can see why it would be confusing? I’m sure there are other worlds that are similar though, or those that have many other religions altogether.

Yes...? There are quite a few. Many have different mm... variations as well. There are many that I know very little about, and some I’ve been trying to know better. I could... probably try to explain better if you ever wanted to know more. If we went to the library where we had books to pull from for reference, perhaps.

Mm... I could counter that by asking how the only one form has developed in your world around magic. Although where magic seems to be nonexistent in my world, perhaps things would have been different if we had?

[Really, it was very interesting to think of how worlds that both had a London were so different in nearly every way beyond that.]

But in my world, different countries and regions have their own distinct cultures and religions that developed over time. There are even some religions from eras gone by that aren’t worshipped anymore.

I suppose there are other methods outside of Arnes. The Faro and Vesk have their own beliefs, but it all relates to magic itself. I've heard...

[Rhy pauses, tapping his own lips. It's something he isn't certain he should say.]

I've heard your people bury their dead.

[Llewellyn does pause at that. He has seen a lot of important people to him put in the ground... Recently even. Which is the only reason why his nod is a little more solemn for a moment, he doesn’t really like thinking about it.]

We do, though there are some that would instead cremate their dead. I presume that you uh— don’t bury the dead in your land?

No. To bury them is to deny the magic which kindles all life within us the freedom to return to the origin. Cremation renders the vessel broken, that we might return to the Source of magic, and new life and power drawn from it. Magic is indeed a finite thing, and to horde it so jealously like that would be wrong.

[Llewellyn turned that over in his head carefully, nodding a moment later.]

So the the cycle must be kept flowing smoothly? Out of respect to magic. I think... I understand that.

Not out of respect for magic. But because it is the nature of things. Magic must pass naturally.

[Which of course further points out why Rhy had been so disgusted by the Inheritor business.]

So it’s to make sure magic flows as it should naturally, and cremation ensures that it returns to the source to maintain it.

[He nodded a little, readjusting his understanding a little more. It really was no wonder he’d been so against the idea of the inheritor.]

We truly are from different worlds. It makes me wonder what else differs greatly.

Many things. Our history, for one. But I do not intend to order Kell to bring me things to tell me of your history.

Oh— certainly that, our worlds have been shaped by very different things.

[Although when he thought about his history, some of it was actually in the future for Rhy. He moved on though, humming a little as he thought about lighter options.]

What of nature though, I wonder if the flowers or wildlife differ? I’ve uh— thought of that since realizing so much of what we consider myth or legend in my world is real in others.

I do not know. I've heard little of animals and plants in your world. You'll have to tell me sometime.

I would be delighted to, for now though... I believe we have these mysterious pretzels to find?

[The small dog lets out a small bark at that, silly little thing.

But they had come to the market, and the smells of food being cooked and ready for purchase were quite distracting.]

[A small laugh escaped him at that, Pretzel was going to end up rather spoiled at this rate. Rhy was going to be stuck carrying the little dog around at this rate.]

Well that’s uh— one Pretzel found.

[He reached over to give his little dog a fond scratch behind the ear before moving on with Rhy towards the food.]

I wonder what they fill them with, the non-pup ones I mean.

[Well, Rhy is clearly as smitten with the puppy too.]

I am hoping with cheese. I enjoy cheese.

Cheese would be very good, and perhaps combined with some spices or something?

[He glanced around the market as they walked, keeping an eye out for the pretzel stand.]

Oh— or perhaps a dessert flavour ones...!

"How would you make it dessert flavored? Could one put ice cream WITHIN a pretzel?"

Oh... Llewellyn quite liked the sound of that, though he wasn’t entirely sure how it could be accomplished. “In my world, I’ve seen pastries filled with various kinds of creams, or layered with honey and nuts. I’ve never seen ice cream inside bread before... Uh— I wonder if that would be possible? It does melt fairly quickly.”

"Oh now I want a cream puff," Rhy groans. He was a royal. Being pampered with delicacies like that was common.

"It does melt so fast. Which is why you use magic!"
